Plan a campaign

Turn your hypothesis into a concrete build plan, by hand or with the Campaign Planning assistant.

Once you’ve created a campaign, planning turns your hypothesis into a concrete build plan: what you’ll change, where, who it’s for, how long to run it, and the list of things to build. You can write the plan yourself, or let the Campaign Planning assistant draft it from your goal and your data.

Start planning

Planning begins in one of two ways.

By hand:

  1. Open a campaign in your backlog.
  2. Select Start building to move it into the Planning stage.
  3. In the Planning section on the campaign page, write the plan yourself, or select Plan campaign in the campaign’s chat to have the assistant draft it.

Start building only moves the campaign into Planning. The Campaign Planning assistant, which you run with /plan-campaign or the Plan campaign button, is what writes the plan.

Automatically, with an agent:

An Autonomous custom agent you’ve accepted responsibility for plans campaigns for you on a schedule, and can take them live. A Manual agent drafts an idea and stops in your backlog for you to plan yourself.

What’s in a plan

The assistant writes two things into the campaign’s Planning section:

  • A design for the test: the change you’re making, where it goes, who it’s for, how long it should run (or the sample size), and what a clean result would look like.
  • A build list: the concrete pieces of work needed to ship it, each noting where the work happens.

It focuses on how to build and launch the campaign. It doesn’t set benchmarks or predict results.

What it plans from

The assistant grounds the plan in your context:

  • Your hypothesis, the campaign you created
  • Your active goal, its current baseline, and the gap to target
  • Your team’s strategy and saved memory
  • Any connected integrations

If nothing is connected, it plans from general knowledge instead. Connecting an integration doesn’t start planning; it gives the assistant more to work with.

It researches, it doesn’t act

While planning, the assistant can read from your connected tools and search the web to shape the plan. It only ever writes the plan. It never changes anything in your connected tools, even with your approval. That happens later, when you launch the campaign.

Edit the plan

The plan appears in a rich text editor in the Planning section of the campaign. A plan the assistant drafted and one you write by hand live in the same place, so you can edit either freely. Select Update to save your changes.

Next step

When the plan is ready, select Launch Campaign to take the campaign Live and start its run. See campaign stages.
